    Staff Favourites - Kevin

I’ve been working in menswear for long enough that I’ve more or less given up fighting the stereotype. Grey trousers, navy knitwear, a navy coat, dark brown suede loafers — a classic menswear cliché, if you will. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, my drink of choice tends to be a classic Negroni. I like the idea of a personal uniform, and especially the subtle differences you get from wearing different shades and textures of blue. During the course of my work, I come across an enormous amount of colour and pattern, much of which I really like. I just don’t necessarily want to wear it myself.

Every now and then, a grey or brown suit finds its way into the rotation, but for the most part, I’ve come to embrace the uniform rather than fight it.

So, surprise surprise, two of my favourites from the Cavour Autumn Winter Collection are the Martingala Coat in navy and our Fox Flannel trousers in charcoal. I love the weight and character of the classic Fox flannel, while the Martingala has that reassuring sense of embrace you want from a winter coat. Being double-breasted, with an additional double layer at the back created by the action pleat, it feels remarkably warm without being particularly heavy. I also really like the soft, Italian-style drape of the fabric.

For shoes, I keep coming back to dark brown suede loafers. Living in Oslo and travelling quite a bit, I find it incredibly versatile and easy to wear with almost everything in my wardrobe.

Speaking of classics, today we’re at what I would call a modern Oslo classic: Merkur, one of my favourite spots for an after-work drink or a late-night nightcap. Run by my friend Benjamin Lee, a prominent figure in Oslo’s bar and restaurant scene for decades, Merkur combines great drinks, great music and, most importantly, no bullshit. Benjamin knows his stuff, and he’s the kind of guy who will tell you to get your act together if you make a foolish bar order. I like that about him.
